Oh Jojoba!!!

Everyone in SoCal is buzzing about how cold it is and I'm sure our East Coast friends are thinking this is nothing compared to the weather they experience lol!  But the one question I'm often asked is how to naturally care for your skin during the cold winter season.  So today I want to highlight one of my favorite spa products that is a multi-purpose treatment from head to toe! It's often referred to as the "Golden Liquid" because it's native to the deserts of the United States and Mexico. What you'll appreciate about Jojoba Oil is that it's luxurious, it penetrates quickly, and it matches our skin's natural oils making it feel soft and smooth.  Here's a few head-to-toe spa tips that everyone can enjoy (men, women, & children):

Hair: Massage two tablespoons into dry/slightly damp hair and leave-in for 10 min-1hour (depending on hair damage). Wash and condition hair as usual. Jojoba is also great for use on natural hair as well!

Face: Winter months can be harsh to the skin, so for dry skin massage a small amount of jojoba oil into facial skin for added moisture.

Skin: Pour one capful under running bath water (optional), while your skin is slightly damp lightly massage  jojoba into your body skin. *SPA BONUS-have that special someone heat the oil by rubbing hands briskly together and gently massage your skin for YOU!!!

Cuticles: Gently massage one drop of oil into each cuticle (can be done daily)

Feet: After your night time bath/shower massage your soles with jojoba oil and put on cozy socks (your feet will feel so soft and smooth by morning).

We could go on and on about ways to be pampered with jojoba, I enjoyed massaging my son with the oil when he was a newborn:)  It's such a pure spa treatment and our only ingredient in this product is...Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil! So, in honor of Cyber Monday, be sure to go to the right of this page and click the link to Sign Up for my E-newsletter (under "What Can I do for You").  Everyone who signs up today will get a 20% off discount, simply contact me directly only and mention the code "Oh Jojoba".  Enjoy your day:)

  1. I've heard about Jojoba oil through the years and got some a few months ago to add to a foot scrub, but wasn't sure of it's other benefits. It seems like a very versatile oil. I'll have to dig my bottle out and start using it because it is cold cold cold here in Massachusetts!

  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jojoba Oil, its my go-to product because there are so many benefits! Enjoy it girl, and stay warm out there:)

  3. Thank you Lakia for stopping by. You have a nice blog.

  4. You're very welcome Riema...thank you as well:)

  5. Thanks for the message. I like your blog.

  6. You're welcome...thanks for stopping by!

  7. Hey Lakia, I'm trying to figure out what oil is right for my hair. there are SO many oils to choose from:
    -olive oil
    -castor oil
    -tea tree oil
    -coconut oil
    -jojoba oil
    -carrot oil
I mean GEESH! How do I know which one will work for me? I'm looking for something to help w/ dry/itchy scalp (this winter weather id brutal on my hair)and something that will promote hair growth...what are your recommendations?

  8. Hey Alex, this is such a great question and you're right there are SO many oils to choose from. I can only speak from experience here so these are my recommendations:

Dry/Itchy Scalp - consider a hot oil treatment with either olive or jojoba oil (I've tried and love both), heat the oil in the microwave, test a little on the inside of your wrist to see if you can stand the temperature, then massage into your scalp and let it penetrate for 10 minutes then rinse. This will help aid in the relief of your dry/itchy scalp, especially this winter.

Hair Growth - have you tried a Skin, Hair, & Nails Supplement? At first I was skeptical but then Sensaria came out with a Lutein Transforming Supplement for Skin, Hair, & Nails which I use everyday and WOW has it worked like a charm. My hair stylist simply said whatever you're taking keep it up because your hair is growing like CRAZY lol! You can see additional info & a video about it here

So let me know if this info helps, I would love to hear your feedback & results, take care:)

  9. Thank you so much for your feedback! It can get quite overwhelming figuring out what works best! Ok so I'm def going to try the hoit oil treatment, but I dont wash my hair at home. I go to the hair salon every 2 weeks. Washing/styling my hair at home is a disaster!! So what oil can I use on my scalp in between my trips to the hair salon? Yes I was thinking of taking a hair/skin/nails supplement, I think I have an older bottle, do pills go bad? I was also thinking of taking prenatal vitamins, although Im not preggo, I thought it may help promote hair growth? I'm going to head down to the naturals store this afternoon and see what I can find. But I def think olive oil will help w/ the dry itchiness!

  10. Yes definitely talk to your stylist about the hot oil treatment. I use jojoba oil on my scalp in between hair salon visits and it does the trick! Also, be sure to check the expiration date on your supplements before taking them (ours are no good past two years). As far as the prenatal pills, I still take mine everyday (and my son is almost 4) because they are full of great ingredients with amazing benefits so I say go for it:)

  11. @Lakia: Please post more about Lutein and that supplement. How was the entire experience? I'm now boggled as to what exactly do I need to take for healthy hair. I know lutein is good for the eyes. =)

  12. I could really use this as living in Dallas has really dried out my skin!

  13. @Avatarlady thanks for posting a great question, you're absolutely right lutein is great for the eyes and so much more. At your request be sure to check back here later today for my Lutein blog post:)

@DivaCafe, welcome, my friends in Dallas always tell me about the weather there and how it affects their skin, so please let me know how I can help (by the way you're in luck because my 20% discount still applies since this post has gained lots of interest)!!!
